20kN Scissor grips have a few options, specifically around the grip face. This scissor fixture is pictured with a wave grip face, but others including blank, serrated, or V jaws for round samples are available as well.

  1. Pyramid (Serrated) Round Jaws – Primary Applications
Pyramid-serrated round jaws provide aggressive surface engagement and are best suited for materials that require maximum holding power. These jaws are ideal for medical tubing and polymer extrusions that thin during testing, wood tensile specimens and dowels, round composite rods, reinforced polymer bars, and small metal rods, pins, or fasteners.

  2. Smooth Round Jaws – Controlled Grip Applications
Smooth round jaws are used when surface preservation is important but reliable clamping is still required. They are well suited for thin-walled plastic tubing, 3D-printed tensile specimens, and finished or coated cylindrical components where serrations may cause surface damage.

  3. Rubber-Coated or Soft-Face Jaws – Delicate Material Applications
Rubber-coated or soft-face jaws are designed for flexible or surface-sensitive materials that require cushioning during gripping. These are commonly used for elastomeric cords, rubber strands, braided polymer lines, and flexible hoses.
