The ASTM Transverse Rupture Fixture is used to test Cemented Carbides. This material is used for diamond tools for cutting and milling metal stock. Tungsten Carbide powder is the most common material. To apply the powder, it is mixed with cobalt and binding agents and then pressed and sintered.
This fixture tests the transverse rupture strength and is similar to Modulus of Rupture type flexural tests. You basically just bend it in the middle until it breaks. The fixture is supplied with supports and crushing plunger. Compression Platens sold separately.
