ASTM C297 Block Flatwise Tensile Fixture

The ASTM C297 fixture is used to test the flat-wise tensile strength of a sandwich core material. The core can rupture at various points, indicating different failure modes. Failure of the adhesive bond between the core and the inside of the sandwich panel facing is most common. Other failure modes include tensile rupture of the core material. The sample should be prepared and bonded to the face of the metal fixture in such a manner that does not allow it to fail during testing.
