Hardened Steel vs. Ribbon Steel Cutting Dies

The Hardened Steel die is designed to be used in larger presses. The reinforced design allows it to cut plastic and hard rubber samples from 0-5mm thick.

The Ribbon Steel die can be used for lower scale die cutting on elastomers and soft plastics from 0-3mm thick.

In cases where the sample is too thick or the material is too strong, a CNC machine is needed to mill the sample down to the correct ASTM dimensions.

A hard nylon counter plate is recommended.
